Attend The Local Movement Against GMOs & Pesticides Talk this Sunday

Need to get up to speed on Monsanto’s plans in Pima County and on what we can do about them? Be sure to attend “What You Need to Know about GMOs & Pesticides: The Local Movement Against These Threats to Our Health” at the Hoff Building at 425 East 7th Street (behind the Food Conspiracy Co-op) this Sunday, January 15, at 3 pm. It will be the first info session on this topic in the 4th Avenue area of Tucson, and the last information session before public meetings about Monsanto in Pima County take place for Districts 3, 5, and 2 next week.

The format for the educational community meeting is:

3:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Introduction and presentation about GMOs, Monsanto’s plans, and Monsanto’s record
4:00 – 4:30 p.m. – Short film about resistance to Monsanto and other biotech companies from people in Hawaii
4:30 – 5:00 – Post-film discussion and action

Going Against GMOs author Melissa Diane Smith will offer an introduction to GMOs, the growing health concerns connected to GMOs and the pesticides used on them, facts about the companies that make these products, and the plans chemical corporation Monsanto has right here in Pima County. A short, 30-minute film about Hawaii’s experience with biotech corporations and how they mobilized people in their community will follow.

Get your questions answered and learn about critical open public meetings and board of supervisors meetings to attend to voice your concerns about this issue and do your part to help protect the air, water, and food in the Tucson community.
