The momentum of the movement of everyday citizens against Monsanto in Pima County has been building for months. Large, often standing-room-only crowds attended public meetings about Monsanto. Educational events have been consistently packed. A showing of SEED: The Untold Story was close to sold out – with almost 500 people! – at The Loft Cinema on Super Bowl Sunday!

Now, it all boils down to this week. Next Tuesday, February 21, the Pima County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote on whether or not to give Monsanto foreign trade zone status and a tax break, and a large group of concerned citizens in concert with GMO Free Arizona have a week of action planned to say a collective NO to the supervisors about that idea.

Please get involved this week by phoning and emailing all five supervisors about why they should not support Monsanto’s foreign trade zone application, then by writing on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

If you live in Tucson or Pima County, make plans to attend: the Sign Making & Statement Writing Party this Saturday; the Stand Up Against Monsanto Public Forum on Sunday with special guest Zen Honeycutt, founder of Moms Across America, Going Against GMOs author Melissa Diane Smith, and other panelists; and the Say NO to Monsanto Rally with Honeycutt and March Against Monsanto founder Tami Canal on Tuesday before the Board of Supervisors meeting!

The most important thing people can do is to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting next Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. An overflow crowd of people standing up and speaking out against a tax break for Monsanto would put big-time pressure on the supervisors to vote the right way, and we want to blow them away with the turnout, so please do everything in your power to attend and speak at the meeting and bring friends and family members.

The following is a Call to Action on many ways you can take action against Monsanto from Feb. 14 – 21, 2017. We need all hands on deck to fight this outrage of our supervisors even considering giving Monsanto a tax break, so please participate in as many ways as you possibly can!

Tues., Feb. 14, 2017, at 9:00 am and 9:00 pm – A Collective Visualization/Meditation for Valentine’s Day in which each of us who participates pictures golden light emanating from our heart and spreading throughout Pima County and enlightening each of the supervisors to vote NO on supporting Monsanto’s foreign trade zone application. In your own home or place of work, take 5 minutes to focus on this visualization.

Tues., Feb. 14, 2017, at 6:00 pm – Joint Technical Education District (JTED) regular board meeting at the Pima County District office, 2855 W. Master Pieces Drive, Building 1 (off of Shannon on Master Pieces Drive — south of Rudasil & north of River). Please consider attending and speaking for three minutes to the board members. A small group of speakers made some progress enlightening both the Marana Unified School District (MUSD) and Pima Community College (PCC) board members last week so we’d like to keep the momentum going.

Wed., Feb. 15, 2017, and Thurs., Feb. 16, 2017 – Phone and email blitz to all five Pima County supervisors during workday hours. If you write an email, be sure to cc the Clerk of the Board at email hidden; JavaScript is required. Make sure to make your voice heard!

Thurs., Feb. 16, 2017, and Fri., Feb. 17, 2017 – All-day Facebook and Twitter party on the Pima County supervisors’ social media pages. Write a visitor post or in a comment stream and type in a concise, persuasive comment about why the supervisor should vote against supporting Monsanto’s foreign trade zone application.
