Be sure to catch the “Going Against GMOs with Quality Food” special event on Saturday, September 26th, at the new Natural Grocers store at 6320 N. Oracle Road in Tucson. It will feature a presentation by me, Melissa Diane Smith, starting at 11 a.m., followed by a Taste the Difference tasting fair at which you can sample the higher quality non-GMO foods Natural Grocers offers.

Even though growing numbers of people want to avoid genetically modified foods, many people don’t know how. In this presentation, I will quickly summarize the top reasons to avoid GMOs, then run down everything you need to know to be a knowledgeable consumer to shop and eat non-GMO for optimal health. (And trust me: shopping non-GMO for optimal health is different than just shopping non-GMO!) Space is limited at the presentation, so make sure you get there early to get a seat.

In my new book, Going Against GMOs: The Fast-Growing Movement to Avoid Unnatural Genetically Modified “Foods” to Take Back Our Food and Health, I wrote about how Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage phased out dairy products from confinement dairies and now carries only pasture-based dairy products. Until Natural Grocers arrived in my area starting early this year, I really wasn’t aware that this is just one of many food standards that sets Natural Grocers apart from many other natural food chains. It also sells certified organic fruits and vegetables only (in other words, no conventional produce mixed in with organic) and organic and Non-GMO Project Verified chicken and grass-fed meats. So, shopping there takes a lot of the guesswork out of buying quality non-GMO food products. You can learn firsthand about its food standards and sample some of the products the store carries immediately following my presentation.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to be a savvy non-GMO shopper, get your questions answered, and buy a signed copy of my book (which is available only at the presentation), then enjoy the tasting fair!
