About the Going Against the Grain Group™
The Going Against the Grain Group is a members-only premiere nutrition service for people who eat gluten free or grain free for optimal health. It offers ongoing nutritional support all year long with quick and easy meal ideas, recipes, food preparation tips, announcements about against-the-grain-friendly restaurant chains, and information about helpful food products, including early announcements of new products and products that fare best in real-life taste tests.
The Going Against the Grain Group also is a private forum to ask questions and chat with like-minded friends so you don’t feel alone eating against the grain. It offers a searchable database so you can find the information you’re looking for. And it’s an exclusive club that offers discounts on nutrition counseling services. There is nothing else quite like it on the web!
How and Why The Going Against the Grain
Group Came to
Be
For more than six years, I have been conducting regular Going Against the
Grain Group meetings with members in person in Tucson, Arizona. In those
meetings, I share timely against-the-grain nutrition news, helpful information
I obtain at conferences I attend, the best new food products for making an
against-the-grain lifestyle easier, and new food creations I make (especially
coconut-flour and nut-flour baked goods!). The meetings are extremely well
received. However, it has been frustrating not to be able to share the health-enhancing
information I cover in my meetings with more people across the world. I love
putting beneficial nutrition information into books, but frankly, the traditional
book-producing process takes so long, it’s simply not a good way to to distribute
timely information. It became clear that I needed to start producing my own
work so I could publish helpful information more quickly. That’s why this
site and the online Going Against the Grain Group are finally here.
About News & Notes
Against the Grain Nutrition News & Notes is a free, open-to-the-public blog that is as it sounds: It will include summaries of noteworthy nutrition studies, news about my work, against-the-grain stories in the headlines, and occasional opinion pieces on a topic in the news. It’s more general in nature.
Why You Should Join the
Going Against the Grain Group
The Going Against the Grain Group includes everything in News & Notes but it includes so much more:

- Meal ideas and recipes that take as little time and effort as possible
- A searchable database of articles posted in the Group
- Help for people who eat in other specialized ways, such as sugar-free, low-carb, low-glycemic, Paleo, dairy-free, soy-free and/or yeast-free
- Special reports and coverage of cutting-edge nutrition information I learn at conventions, conferences and presentations I attend
- Insider information I don’t share with the general public
- A subjective rundown of the best new food products on the market from a health professional’s and consumer advocate’s point of view

- A private place to post comments and questions
- Regular communication from me
- Answers to your questions about food and nutrition topics in the news
- Discounts on additional nutrition services from me
The Going Against the Grain Group can’t take the place of individualized nutrition counseling or coaching with me but it’s a great complement to counseling or coaching (especially in between appointments!). By giving you regular information, The Going Against the Grain Group helps you stay connected and motivated to keep eating for optimal health.
What Makes The Going Against the Grain Group Unique
There are many blogs out there – gluten-free blogs, grain-free blogs, low-carb blogs, low-glycemic blogs, Paleo diet blogs, food-allergen-free blogs, and even blogs on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, another grain-free diet. Most focus on one rigid type of eating and are written by laypeople who aren’t trained in all aspects of nutrition. I am in the unique position of having worked with people with many different health conditions; I have seen the benefits and drawbacks of all of the diets that go against the grain of conventional nutrition advice. I know the similarities, differences and flaws of the diets and why some gluten-free eaters gain weight or why some low-carb eaters develop gastrointestinal distress eating the way they do. I can offer perspective and useful tricks of the trade for eating for your best health simply, deliciously and as conveniently as possible. No other blog offers such wide-ranging practical information backed by longstanding against-the-grain experience.
Many people have written me telling me about the phenomenal health improvements they’ve experienced eating against the grain. But they’ve also told me they get into ruts with the food they eat or they get discouraged when they encounter challenges. I listened to all those letters and created this service to fill the need of what my clients and readers told me they wanted and needed. It’s one thing to get yourself on the right diet for your health; it’s another thing to keep eating the way that makes you feel best. The Going Against the Grain Group will help you do that. Becoming a member is one of the best investments you can make to maintain your health over the long term.
Becoming a Going Against the Grain Group Member
Just think of how helpful a year-long nutrition service that offers regular information, communication and support from a nutritionist who specializes in gluten- and grain-free eating would be for you. Many people figure a service like this should be priced at $300 to $400 a year. Instead, the cost of the service is $99.99 per 12-month Membership.
But I want to give you even more incentive to join so you don’t miss one bit of information. So, for a limited time, I am offering an Introductory Special: $79.99 for a 12-month Going Against the Grain Group Membership. Remember that includes regular information to keep you motivated, recipes, meal ideas, tips on products to make your cooking easier, answers to your questions, and more. Just think of all that for less than $7 a month – less than the price of seeing a movie or eating out for dinner. Also, remember, by purchasing
a One-Year Membership, you receive a 15-percent discount on select counseling services. That makes it doubly rewarding and health-promoting to be a Group member.
Wishing you the best of health going against the grain,
