About the Going Against the Grain Group™
The Going Against the Grain Group is a members-only nutrition service for people who eat gluten free or grain free for optimal health. Membership is a complimentary service for all clients who purchase nutrition coaching programs or it can be purchased by others for a low price.
Plain and simple, people experience wide-ranging health improvements and feel much better when they start to eat against the grain. (Read some Success Stories.) But some lose their focus and end up falling off the against-the-grain wagon and experience setbacks in their health. Research shows that people who have access to informative articles and recipes and semi-regular contact with a nutritionist are much more successful keeping to their diet, making it a diet for life, and experiencing health improvements that last. That is why I developed the Going Against the Grain Group.
The Going Against the Grain Group is first and foremost a searchable database of previous posts (and occasional new posts) covering many aspects of gluten-free and grain-free living, including tip-oriented articles, food preparation tips, information about helpful food products and recipes. It also is an exclusive club that offers 10% discounts on initial and follow-up nutrition counseling services for the whole year of your membership. And it's a place where members can ask food-related questions and get answers from me.
The Going Against the Grain Group canít take the place of individualized nutrition counseling or coaching with me but it's a great complement to counseling or coaching, especially in between appointments. Think of it as having a searchable book from the same author who brought you Syndrome X and Going Against the Grain. The more you use the Group to search for the information you are looking for, the more it can help you stay motivated and keep eating for optimal health. And if you can't find what you're looking for by searching, just ask a question.
What Makes The Going Against the Grain Group Unique
There are many blogs out there Ė gluten-free blogs, grain-free blogs, low-carb blogs, low-glycemic blogs, Paleo diet blogs, food-allergen-free blogs, and even blogs on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, another grain-free diet. Most focus on one rigid type of eating and are written by laypeople who aren't trained in all aspects of nutrition. I am in the unique position of having worked with people with many different health conditions; I have seen the benefits and drawbacks of all of the diets that go against the grain of conventional nutrition advice. I know the similarities, differences and flaws of the diets and why some gluten-free eaters gain weight or why some low-carb eaters develop gastrointestinal distress eating the way they do. The searchable posts in the Group offer the perspective of longstanding against-the-grain experience and useful tricks of the trade for eating for your best health simply, deliciously and as conveniently as possible.
